About Enco Systems
Enco Systems has been the exclusive North American distributor of the Philips CD Pro 2 compact disc player module for over 30 years. Enco Systems was founded in 1987 specifically to design-in and distribute audio sub-assemblies manufactured by NV Philips, the Dutch electronics giant and pioneer in compact disc technology. Throughout our history, Enco has been a key partner with manufacturers in specialty audio markets – particularly high-end audio and jukebox.
Hifi Design
Enco has worked closely with designers of boutique high-end audio gear to bring compact disc to the most discerning audiophiles around the world. Audiophiles were the earliest adopters of high-resolution digital technology and Enco was there at the beginning, working together with Philips to design CD technology into the best hifi gear in the world. (Click here to see a list of designers who featured the CD Pro) The CD Pro 2 continues to be at the heart of the highest performance digital playback systems available. Even as resolution has increased beyond 16 bit, 44.1 kHz oversampled sound, the CD Pro 2 continues to set the standard for reproducing the best audio recordings. CD is still the benchmark in high-fidelity sound, and we intend to CD’s 2nd wave into the personal hifi market.
The Ultimate “CD Engine”
Enco and Philips were instrumental in bringing compact disc to specialty audio markets in the late 1980’s. For instance, Enco partnered with Rowe International to design Philips CD technology into the first generation of CD jukeboxes. Most significantly, Enco and Philips partnered to design an elegant CD player module — a CD “engine” — for use in new designs. That CD engine is what we now know as the CD Pro. Many of the best names in high-end audio worldwide (as well as all the major global jukebox manufacturers) chose to design their products around the CD Pro.
360 DG headphone CD player
We now have a working prototype of our own lightly-anticipated design around the CD Pro 2. A headphone CD player — the 360 DG. Intended to be the best 16 bit, 44.1 kHz oversampled experience in the world, this little beauty is long on style and short on features. We tried to keep it versatile, but the music is really the marketing. Listen up. Compare and contrast. Open your ears and your mind will follow.
CD Pro 2 Product Support
Now new CD Pro 2 modules are no longer manufactured by Philips, but Enco will continue to support the product. While our supply lasts, we continue to sell factory-new players last built at the Philips production plant located in Guangzhou, China. We also have service parts available for the CD Pro family of products. Despite the discontinuation by Philips, we remain dedicated to the product and to compact disc technology. We will continue to back the CD Pro 2 with parts and service as long as possible. And we hope to be able to offer a compatible replacement when new CD Pro 2 modules are no longer available. Fingers crossed…
